UK context
What UK businesses need from their books.
General information to frame our work, last reviewed October 2026. Your tax advisor confirms what applies to your business.
- UK.1
Making Tax Digital
MTD for VAT requires VAT-registered businesses to keep digital records and file through compatible software. We keep your books in that software, so the records your accountant files from are already digital and reconciled.
- UK.2
Payroll under RTI
UK employers report each pay run to HMRC through Real Time Information, on or before payday. We calculate the pay run and prepare the figures; you or your payroll agent make the submission.
- UK.3
MTD for Income Tax
MTD for Income Tax is being phased in for sole traders and landlords from April 2026, starting with higher incomes. Up-to-date digital bookkeeping makes the quarterly updates straightforward.

Experience
We’ve done this work for UK businesses before.
Our founder’s five years of hands-on accounting include client work for UK businesses, alongside the US, UK, Singapore and India more broadly — in healthcare, manufacturing, e-commerce and a chartered accountancy practice.
About our teamClient reviews — coming from our first clients.
Wrenfield is a new practice, so you won’t find borrowed or invented testimonials here. Reviews from our clients will be published on this page word for word, with their permission. Until then, this is what we put in writing:
- A written scope and fixed fee before any work starts
- A confidentiality agreement before you share documents, if you want one
- Statements and year-end packs reviewed by a Chartered Accountant
- Work done in your own software — your data stays yours
UK questions
Working with us from the United Kingdom.
Can you work alongside my existing UK accountant?
Yes. Many businesses keep their UK accountant for year-end accounts and tax returns and use us for day-to-day bookkeeping, payroll and reconciliations. Your accountant receives cleaner records and has fewer queries.
Do you submit RTI, VAT or tax returns to HMRC?
No. We prepare and reconcile the figures in your software. Submissions to HMRC are made by you or your appointed agent.
Which accounting software do you work in for UK clients?
Xero, QuickBooks Online and Zoho Books. We work inside your own file, so your records always stay yours.
How much does bookkeeping cost for a UK business?
Bookkeeping starts from £149 a month, payroll from £59 a month for up to 10 employees, and year-end financial statements from £279. The final fee is confirmed in a written scope.
